ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES: Student Request for Semester
Interpreter Guidelines

Before you can submit your request for an interpreter you need to read the following information and indicate that you fully understand.

  1. Your request for an interpreter must be made at least 2 weeks before your class begins.
  2. Absence from class:  You must inform the ODS office as soon as you know you will be absent by calling 217-353-2251 (tty) or emailing accessibilityservices@parkland.edu  **

Guidelines:
8am classes –you should contact ODS no later than 7am
9am  or later classes – contact should be made at least 2 hours before the start of class.
You should provide the following information:
Your name
Name of your class (ie. HIS 105-003)
Time class meets (ie. M, 10-10:50)
Name of interpreter

  1. Tardiness: the interpreter will wait outside the classroom for 15 minutes  after the class starts for a one hour class and 30 minutes for longer classes. If you expect to be more than 15 minutes late for class contact Disability Services Office before class or your interpreter may be reassigned for that class period on that day.
  2. Dropping a class: Consult with your academic advisor, then inform the Associate Coordinator of Disability Services Office as soon as possible.

** IF YOU DO NOT NOTIFY THE DISABILITY SERVICES OFFICE AND DO NOT SHOW UP FOR A CLASS**
After 2nd no-show/no call per class/per semester:  interpreting services will be suspended for that class. You must arrange a meeting with the Associate Coordinator. After the meeting, interpreting services for that class will resume.
After 3rd no show/no call/ per semester:  interpreting services will be cancelled for that class. Arrange a meeting with the Associate Coordinator.  Services may resume after new interpreter request form is received.
